The National Board of Sigma Kappa Omega is the governing body for all chapters, consisting of alumni who are voted on annually.
Kara McIntyre - Historian/Vice Chair of Philanthropy
Kara graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2003 with a BA in communications/writing, and is one of the founders of Sigma Kappa Omega. She is a longtime employee of iHeart Media where she currently serves an on-air personality based in Houston. Kara says, "Founding Sigma Kappa Omega is one of my biggest accomplishments, and I love that the sorority has thrived over the past two decades. Coming together as a group of alumni and helping the current members continue our legacy has been more rewarding than I ever could have imagined!" Kara lives with her husband, her dog (an American Staffordshire mix), and two rescue cats.
Katie McCormick Rudisill - Vice Chair of Finance
Katie is a graduate of SFASU who holds a Master's in education. She is one of the founders of Sigma Kappa Omega. A native of New Jersey, Katie currently resides in Nacogdoches with her husband and two sons. As Vice Chair of Finance, Katie is responsible for all fiscal matters.
LaShaye Martin - Member At Large, Gamma Chapter
LaShaye crossed Spring 2018 and is a Spring 2020 graduate from Sam Houston State University. She is currently studying for her masters in Victim Service Management from Sam Houston State University. She enjoys music, traveling, and being active in the community while helping children in within all ages. She stated that "joining SKO allowed me to expand on my skills , grow life long relationships and connections, and allowed me to become apart of something I can give back to."
Maya Palacios - Vice Chair of Sisterhood
When Maya crossed in Spring 2019, she was awarded the honorary title Alpha Delta Class’s Heart of the Line. She graduated from Sam Houston State University with her Bachelors in Victim Studies. Shortly after graduating, Maya went back to SHSU to begin her Masters in Victim Service Management. Maya is from Waco and she enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, Auggie. Maya is also the Liaison for the Alumni Association the Infinity Chapter.
